Autumn leaves in Århus

It is rather nice being temporarily back in a place with real seasons. We took a walk yesterday around the park in the middle of the university. In the middle of the park is a large pond full of ducks, who were just as amusing as ducks always are. (You can see why Donald Duck is so funny.)

Here are ducks and autumn leaves by the pond. Sandy's favorites in the duck family are coots. She always oohs and aahs over the odd little creatures. Here is one at the same pond, known locally as blishøne (bliss hens? who knows).

Back to the leaves, I suspect that the charm of the four seasons will begin to fade when it really begins to get cold here. I have already had to wear a jacket every day since the end of August, while I hear it is still close to 90 degrees Fahrenheit back in Austin. That is going to begin to sound pretty good soon. In the meantime, the leaves are very nice. Carpe diem. Be here now.

They are apparently called "bliss hens" (ha) because they have a white blaze on their foreheads (like a horse). Turns out that's what "blis" means.

Love,
Sandy

I don't miss Austin in the fall--at least, not the heat as it would feel in my current un-air-conditioned digs. I dig leaves. And seasons.

Kristy digs ducks.
